Our 2022s are now bottled and available, and the press remains unanimous in their praise for this acclaimed vintage. Neal Martin once again highlighted our unoaked Cuve 8a, awarding it 91–93 points:
“The 2022 Cuve 8a is unoaked, which is unusual in Bordeaux, but it works, and represents one of my favorite wines from Lalande-de-Pomerol. It has a fresh bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, light floral scents and orange blossom. The palate is well balanced and lightly spiced, with good definition, grainy tannins and a very elegant, persistent finish. I look forward to tasting this wine in bottle – it has great potential.” — Neal Martin, 91–93
A New Cuvée in 2022: 100% Cabernet Franc
2022 also marked the debut of a brand-new cuvée — 100% Cabernet Franc from our Gentiers parcel. Initially nicknamed “Lilac Tiger,” this wine was not submitted to all critics, but Colin Hay tasted it and loved it:
“The very first vintage of this fortuitous discovery – made from highly expressive Cabernet Franc in a fabulous year for the variety, which would otherwise have been lost in the grand vin. It is brilliant, really brilliant! It sings of Cabernet Franc in all its purity and sublime tension – floral, wild, herbal, with crunchy purple-blue fruits bursting across the palate and delivering glorious freshness. Kalamata tapenade on the tongue. Gracefully soft tannins amplify the fresh blueberry and violet personality. Truly good – better than you can imagine.
