Le Rosé & Lobster Roll: a perfect summer pairing

Le Rosé & Lobster Roll: a perfect summer pairing

There’s something undeniably luxurious about a lobster roll.
It’s simple, yet indulgent. Cool, creamy, and lightly toasted, just like summer should be.
And when paired with our pale, elegant Bordeaux rosé, it becomes something truly memorable.

Here’s how to make it at home.

Why it works

Le Rosé by Famille Canon Chaigneau is made from Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, vinified with precision and aged on fine lees.
It’s dry, crisp, and subtly floral, with just enough fruit to lift the richness of the lobster without overpowering it.

The pairing works because:

  • The acidity of the rosé cuts through the mayo

  • Its delicate red fruit and citrus notes complement the sweetness of lobster

  • The dry, refreshing finish balances the buttered brioche

Easy Lobster Roll Recipe (serves 2)

Ingredients:

  • 200g (7 oz) cooked lobster meat (claw or tail), chopped

  • 2 tablespoons good-quality mayonnaise

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice + zest

  • 1 small celery stalk, finely diced

  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives or tarragon

  • 2 brioche hot dog buns

  • Butter

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the lobster, mayo, lemon juice, celery, herbs, salt & pepper

  2. Toast the brioche buns in a hot pan with a bit of butter

  3. Fill each bun with the lobster mix

  4. Serve immediately, with a glass of chilled rosé

Optional: add a few baby gem lettuce leaves or avocado slices for extra freshness

How to serve Le Rosé

  • Chill to 10–12°C (not too cold or it will mute the aromatics)

  • Use a tulip-shaped white wine glass to let it breathe

  • Serve with a light starter, or on its own as an apéritif before the roll

This pairing is perfect for:

  • A seaside lunch

  • A casual but elevated dinner party

  • A romantic picnic (yes, even with plastic cups)

Or… just because it's Thursday and you deserve something delicious.
